  • a.Energy-saving escalators stop and restart constantly. Each cycle presses a mechanical contact limit switch that confirms brake release.
  • b.Repeated friction wears the switch out. In high-traffic environments like airports and shopping malls, it can fail in as little as a year — making it the single most common cause of brake unit failure.
  • c.The switch can't be replaced on its own. When it fails, the entire solenoid brake unit is replaced, again and again, for the life of the escalator.
